Cox's Bazar, on the Bay of Bengal, has one of the longest natural sandy beaches in the world, stretching about 120 kilometers. It is Bangladesh's most popular holiday destination.
The beach
Laboni and Sugandha beaches are the busiest, with beach chairs and snack stalls. The Marine Drive runs along the coast to Inani Beach, with rocky shores and the Himchari waterfall.
Islands
Saint Martin's Island, Bangladesh's only coral island, is reached from Teknaf further south.
A day in Cox's Bazar
Walk along the beach, one of the longest natural sea beaches in the world at about 120 kilometers. Drive the Marine Drive road along the coast to Inani Beach, with its coral rocks, and Himchari, with a waterfall.
In the evening, watch the sunset with crowds of families on Laboni Beach.
Good to know
Boats go from Teknaf to Saint Martin's Island, the only coral island in Bangladesh, in season.
The best time is November to March.
