Boracay is a small island famous for White Beach, four kilometers of powdery sand along turquoise water. Its sunsets, with traditional paraw sailboats crossing the horizon, are among the most beautiful in Asia.
White Beach
White Beach is divided into Stations 1, 2 and 3. Station 1 has the widest sand, Station 2 is the lively center with D'Mall, and Station 3 is quieter. Puka Shell Beach in the north is wilder.
Visiting tips
Boracay was closed for six months in 2018 for an environmental cleanup, and now has rules to protect it. Fly to Caticlan, then take a short boat ride. The dry season, from November to May, is best.
A day on the island
Start the day with a swim at White Beach while the sand is still cool and the water calm. The beach is divided into Stations 1, 2 and 3: Station 1 has the widest, whitest sand, Station 2 is the lively center, and Station 3 is quieter. In the afternoon, try paddleboarding or a sunset sail on a traditional paraw boat.
On the east side, Bulabog Beach is the place for kitesurfing from November to April, and Puka Beach in the north is a wilder, quieter stretch of sand. Evening is all about sunset, when the whole beach turns orange and pink.
