Malmö, in southern Sweden, is a young, multicultural city linked to Copenhagen by the Öresund Bridge. It combines a historic center with sustainable new districts by the sea.

Old town

Stortorget and Lilla Torg are cobbled squares lined with old buildings and restaurants. Malmöhus Castle, Scandinavia's oldest surviving Renaissance castle, houses museums and is surrounded by parks.

Western Harbour

The Western Harbour, a former shipyard, is now an eco-friendly district dominated by the twisting Turning Torso skyscraper. Ribersborg beach has a historic open-air bathhouse with saunas.

A day in Malmö

Walk from the old town squares, Stortorget and Lilla Torg, to Malmöhus Castle and the parks around it. Then head to the Western Harbour, where the twisting Turning Torso skyscraper rises above a seaside promenade.

In the afternoon, swim at Ribersborg beach or take a sauna at the Ribersborgs Kallbadhus, an open-air bath at the end of a pier.

Malmö is linked to Copenhagen by the Øresund Bridge, and trains cross in about 35 minutes. Malmö is a multicultural city with excellent food.

Malmö is a young, diverse city where more than half of the residents are under 35, and its food scene reflects many cultures. Möllevången, with its market square and international shops, is the place for affordable food and nightlife. The city has many parks, including Kungsparken and Slottsparken, and a long beach close to the center. In summer, Malmöfestivalen brings free concerts and food stalls to the streets.
